What would card payments really cost your business?

Enter your monthly card takings and the kind of cards your customers use. Every UK provider with published prices is ranked by what you'd actually pay each month, including card fees, monthly fees and the machine.

How this works

Each total is the card fee on your mix of cards, plus any fee per sale, plus any monthly fee, plus the cheapest card machine bought outright and spread over 12 months. Prices come from each provider's own published UK pricing page, last checked 2026-10-09. Providers that only quote on request, or whose published rate stops at your size, are listed but not ranked.

Blended or interchange-plus?

Every price here is blended: one percentage per card type, whatever the card costs the provider. Larger businesses are often offered interchange-plus-plus (IC++) instead, where you pay the card scheme's actual cost plus a fixed margin. IC++ can be cheaper at high volume but is harder to predict. If you take a lot on cards, ask providers for a custom or IC++ quote and compare it with the effective rate shown here.

The effective rate

The effective rate is everything you'd pay in a month divided by your card takings. It's the fairest single number for comparing providers, because a low card rate with a monthly fee can cost more than a higher rate with none.
